Proper brushing is essential for cleaning teeth and gums effectively. When buying a tooth brush one looks at the color, designs, and of course price but none of these matter if you are not using it correctly. A tooth brush should have soft and round- ended bristles that will not irritate teeth or damage gums.
First step to brushing teeth is flossing. One should floss teeth daily and preferably before brushing.
Second step is to hold your brush properly. A toothbrush should be held at a 45 degree angle towards your gum line. This step insures you are brushing not only the tooth surfaces but also slightly under the gum line.
The movement of your tooth brush is very important. Focus on 2-3 teeth at a time moving in a small circular motion. If it is not comfortable to make small circular motions you can move forward and backwards, flicking tooth brush down towards the chewing surface. It’s essential to brush all sides of the teeth and tongue.
Please remember to replace your toothbrush every 3-4 mo.
